MAK @ GRAN TURISMO: MATTEO CRESSONI

MATTEO CRESSONI FIGHTS AMONG THE BEST IN THE 4H OF IMOLA

The MAK Wheels Sponsored Mantuan driver does not disappoint expectations in Romagna after a long challenge full of twists and battles. Matteo Cressoni was undoubtedly one of the protagonists of the 4h Imola, the third round of the European Le Mans Series. The Lombard driver stood out in the very competitive LMGT3 category at the wheel of the #60 Porsche 911 (992) GT3-R, branded Proton Competition, alongside Claudio Schiavoni and Julien Andlauer. The Italian-French trio progressively climbed positions by employing a different strategy compared to some of the other competitors, a move also due to the very high temperatures that characterized the entire weekend. The #60 Porsche managed to take the lead of the race with Cressoni, a brief moment before an unfortunate spin following contact with a lapped car at the ‘Rivazza’ braking zone.

Once again, the crew attempted a comeback with Julien Andlauer, but the trio finished far from the top due to a penalty received post-race for an on-track infraction. Nevertheless, the pace shown at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit gives hope for the #60 Proton Competition car, an absolute protagonist of the exciting LMGT3.

The former European Le Mans Series champion stated in a note: «I’m sorry to leave Imola without a podium result or at least among the best. The contact we had limited our progress; it wasn’t a competition to be held, also considering the high temperatures that characterized the entire weekend. We’ll come back stronger at Spa!»

The season for our driver will continue next week with the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in São Paulo. The well-known championship for GTs and prototypes will return to action at the end of August with the traditional round at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
