MAK on RAI TGR Lombardia: it is with great pride that the company was the protagonist of a television report focusing on Reshoring and Made in Italy. An important process addressed by the company in 2024 with a view to the complete return of the alloy wheel production process to Italy.
At the end of the 1990s, MAK had taken the decision to relocate part of its production to Asia to meet the needs of the market, which at the time demanded a considerable volume of alloy wheels, particularly in the medium segment, which had prompted the management to find solutions abroad for greater competitiveness. After more than 20 years of production in Asia, the macroeconomic conditions that made delocalised production less competitive and the orientation of the company’s strategy towards premium products allowed MAK to bring all production back to Italy, also working with local manufacturers. The Back-to-Italy follows a series of investments of around EUR 8.5 million in the production facilities, to expand and install new robotic islands at the foundry and to build from scratch a building housing a painting plant in accordance with Industry 4.0 parameters that can guarantee the same quality of finish as the first plant. The efforts undertaken made it possible to increase production capacity by 20%, contributing to the return of production.
